Haworth Steampunk Weekend
In the middle of October I attended yet another Steampunk event, namely the Haworth Steampunk Weekend. I’ve visited Haworth a couple of times before for 1940’s weekends and the cobbled streets and old buildings of the main street is perfect for a historic themed weekend. I certainly had high hopes for the weekend!
The Biggest Steampunk Charity Event
The Haworth Steampunk Weekend likes to refer to itself as The Biggest Steampunk Charity Event. It actually takes place twice every year, once in May and once in October. The daytime activities are actually free and include some street performances and a couple of halls that feature various Steampunk traders. There are a couple of people carrying donation buckets should you want to donate to the charity which is Sue Ryder’s Manorlands Hospice.
The evening entertainment on Friday and Saturday is ticketed, raising more money for the charity. This evening entertainment will usually either be live music or perhaps burlesque dancing. I didn’t attend any of the evening events since my main aim was to take street portraits during the day. I believe the evening entertainment included:
- Alice Strange
- Madam Misfit
- Captain of the Lost Waves

The following gallery is just a small selection of my images from the weekend. You can find many more by visiting my Facebook Album for this event.
So will I visit Haworth Steampunk Weekend again in 2025? I think it’s certainly possible that I will try and make the time to visit one of the events. I’d like to vary things up in 2025 though by trying a few new events that I’ve never been to before. Those that I consider the best annual events are likely to be become regular fixtures and my sense is that Haworth Steampunk Weekend could fall into this category.
If you would like to know more about this event, probably the best place to start is their Facebook page as follows:
