Crich Tramway Steampunk Weekend

Another new Steampunk Weekend for me in 2024 was the Crich Tramway Steampunk Weekend. Many seemed to recommend it so I thought it was worth investigating. As it turned out it was less productive for me photographically than other Steampunk weekends I have attended recently. I was only able to attend on the Sunday and think that might have been part of the problem, I get the sense that the Saturday was the busier day.

Crich Tramway Steampunk Weekend Tickets

For those wanting to visit Crich Tramway Museum during the Steampunk Weekend, or indeed at any other time will want to know what the cost of entry is. Ticket prices allow for entry for a full year and prices are as follows:

Adults including seniors £23.00
Child (4-15 yrs) £14.00
Family (2 adults & 3 children or 1 adult and up to 4 children) £52.00

Disabled visitors get some reduction on these prices as follows:

Adult & Seniors £17.00
Child (4-15 yrs) £12.00

I guess each individual will decide if they think this is good value but certainly for those who live in the area or plan to visit more than once I’d say it’s good value. I would say that the Crich Tramway Village is especially worth a visit when they have one of their special events on, such as the Steampunk Weekend, 1940’s Weekend or The Ragged Victorians who I understand have visited there recently.

In terms of when they are open it should be noted that they are generally closed over the winter months. At other times they are generally open at weekends and some bank holidays. When open the hours seem to be 10am – 5:30pm with last entry at 4pm. However it seems they may be open in November for a couple of special events where it’s stated they are open until 8pm. I’m guessing these events are their ‘A Journey Through Time and Light’ where the trams are covered in lights which I would imagine adds a certain atmosphere. However it seems that this special event is charged seperately and not part of the annual entry ticket. Since I’m not a regular visitor to Crich Tramway Village and they don’t seem to have regular, structured hours I would refer you to their website for more information:

In terms of food and drink, Crich Tramway Musuem does have a cafe, sweet shop and The Red Lion Pub which you can see in the main image at the top of this article.

Crich Tramway Steampunk Gallery

As mentioned earlier, this wasn’t the most productive weekend for me and the number of photos I took was less than usual. Though there seemed to be less people in Steampunk costumes than for some other weekends I attend there are still other things to photograph, like the trams and some entertainers like a fire-eater, magicians etc.

As to whether I will attend again next year I’m undecided. The purpose of 2024 was to attend lots of new events (to me) and then decide which would become part of my annual calendar. Some have been a definate yes, a couple have been probably not and the rest, like Crich are in the undecided group.
