Bletchley Park 1940s Weekend

On Sunday 16th June 2024 I decided to visit the Bletchley Park 1940s Weekend. Just a 40 minute drive from my home, it’s somewhere I’ve never visited before. Famous as the home to the World War II codebreakers it’s perhaps no surprise that it’s a popular location to host a 1940s weekend. The location has been used in a number of films including The Imitation Game where Benedict Cumberbatch played the role of Alan Turing.

Bletchley Park Ticket Prices & Opening Times

I decided to pay on the day, the cost being £26.00 for an annual pass. There are discounts for certain groups including over 60’s, students, 12-17 year olds and local residents (those living within a 10 mile radius of Bletchley Park). I decided to park at Bletchley Park train station which is just a few minutes walk from Bletchley Park itself. Apparently there is free on-site parking at Bletchley Park but it can be full on busier days such as this 1940s Weekend.

In terms of the Bletchley Park opening times they are as follows:

1st March 2024 – 31st October 2024 09:30 – 17:0o with last admission 15:00
1st November 2024 – 28th February 2025 09:30 – 16:00 with last admission 14:00

For 2024 there will actually be two 1940s Weekends, the other taking place 21st and 22nd September which I believe is the more traditional weekend for Bletchley Park. Unfortunately I will not be able to use my annual pass for the September dates as I have a wedding on the Saturday and I will probably try and visit the Sheringham 1940s Weekend on the Sunday.

Bletchley Park 1940s Weekend Photos

Most of the photos I took on the Sunday were in the grounds of Bletchley Park since I was interested in outdoor portraits mainly. For a more normal day at Bletchley Park visitors would be concentrating on the various buildings, displays and learning about the history of the place. For this weekend however the attention was mostly focused on the live music, people dressed in 1940s clothing and the collection of 1940s cars and motorbikes on show.

I did however take one photo from inside the main building at Bletchley Park known as The Mansion of the man dresssed as Winston Churchill. The gallary below is a small selection of my portraits from the day, more can be found on my Facebook and Instagram pages.
