Portmeirion Steampunk Weekend
When speaking to people at various Steampunk events, one event that was recommended a number of times was the Portmeirion Steampunk Weekend which I finally got to attend in 2025. This was also the first time that I attended a Steampunk event dressed in Steampunk attire, albeit quite a basic costume compared to many who attend these events.
Portmeirion Steampunk 2025 Tickets Price
The Portmeirion Steampunk Weekend is not a free event. For anyone who has visited Portmeirion will know, they charge entry to this popular tourist location. Normal daily entry prices applied to visitors though for those that were dressed in Steampunk attire there was a discount. Adults in Steampunk clothing were charged £13.00 whilst children aged between 5-15 in costume were charged £11.00.
Like with some other Steampunk events I’ve attended recently, the community is very accepting of other costumes that would not seem to fit the ‘Victorian’ idea of Steampunk. For instance for this Portmeirion Steampunk weekend there were a number of people who attended dressed as pirates (something that seems more popular recently). On the Sunday a few people were dressed up in Star Wars costumes, due to the fact that Sunday was May the 4th (a play on May the force).
Portmeirion Steampunk Weekend Gallery
The following gallery is just a small selection of my images from the weekend. You can see the full album on my Facebook page. The weekend provided lots of photography opportunities and not just for portraits which was my main focus of the weekend. Portmeirion is a quirky, attractive tourist village that was the brainchild of architect Clough Williams-Ellis and the buildings and gardens make for some interesting photographs in their own right.
The Italian inspired village of Portmeirion was built between 1925 and 1975. It is also well known as the filming location for the 1960’s TV show called The Prisoner. If you think this is the sort of weekend you would like to attend you can vsiit their website (link below) for more information. The dates for 2026 are listed as 2nd-3rd May.
