Lincoln Steampunk Festival 2025
One of the best Steampunk related events in the UK is The Lincoln Steampunk Festival. In 2024 I visited for just a few hours on the Sunday. For 2025 I was determined to spend some quality time at this amazing event so I visited from the Friday until the Sunday.
Like the previous year I didn’t buy a special access wristband for any private events or areas. As a photographer I find you are able to get all the portrait photos you want by just walking around Lincoln, close to the Cathedral area. and the surrounding streets.
Lincoln Steampunk 2025 Pictures
The weather was kind for the event and I was pleased with the pictures I managed to get. I also met Paul Kent, another photographer who I noticed uses the same Godox flash and small softbox I own (I’ve since upgraded to a slightly larger softbox). I rarely bring mine though as I don’t have an assistant with me to hold it (I don’t trust it to stay upright on a flash stand). Paul usually brings his son Luke to hold the flash but for much of the weekend Paul and I worked together which gave Luke more time to enjoy the event himself.
Things can get quite chaotic and busy in front of Lincoln Cathedral so Paul and I would often look for other less busy locations to take some portraits. We also had a few scheduled photoshoots with people which meant we had more time with some subjects. Having done Steampunk events for a few years now I actually know lots of the people who attend by name which makes it even easier to ask if they are willing to pose for portraits.
Deciding on which images to feature in this article was next to impossible, there are so many interesting subjects to pick from. What I have tried to do in the gallery below is try and showcase just how broad and different the looks are, even if some would not be strictly considered Steampunk. Lincoln Steampunk Festival 2026
As I usually do in January I start looking ahead to what events I hope to attend in the coming year. For 2026 I already have pencilled in a number of Steampunk events, along with some Comic Con events and the the Whitby Goth weekend in early November. Though I have not booked any accommodation yet I will almost certainly attend the amazing Lincoln Steampunk Festival. If you are planning to go as well, I hope to see you there!
