Liverpool Comic Con November 2025
Having decided to add cosplay photography to my genres of portrait photography I decided to visit the Liverpool Comic Con in November 2025. It was clear from the social media hype around this event and the number of celebrity guests attending that this event would be on a much larger scale than the Out Of This World Sheffield event I had recently attended.
Liverpool Comic Con 2025 Location
The Liverpool Comic Con event takes place at the Exhibition Centre which is part of the King’s Dock part of the city. I decided not to pay for a ticket to go inside as I expected the lighting inside to be poor for portraits. I had hoped to just wait around outside the Exhibition Centre and ask people to pose for outdoor portraits. However the area around the venue was cordoned off meaning I was restricted in terms of the number of possible backgrounds to use. In the end most of my images were taken with either the Wheel of Liverpool as a background or an area just outside the Leonardo Hotel.
If I visit this event again I think I would buy an entry ticket, if only to increase the number of locations I can take photos. It would also make it easier to ask cosplayers for portraits as I missed lots of opportunities this time with people entering the venue whilst I was already taking a portrait.

I should note that this event seems to take place twice a year. Indeed for 2026 the dates are as follows:
- 2-3 May 2026 (A bank holiday).
- 14-15 November 2026

I’m seriously considering attending the May 2026 event but unsure which day to go. As someone new to this scene I’m curious to know which are the best events to attend.
